Trifles are a wonderful addition to your holiday table. In fact, you can have it to celebrate any occasion. This berry compote chocolate cake trifle is one of my favorite ones when I do not want to make a boozy dessert. The best part about making trifles is that you do not need any cake decorating skills. It is simply layering cake pieces with pudding, cream, or custard and piling it up in a bowl. And t is downright delicious!!! I do drink occasionally!!! I love to have a glass of wine, champagne, or a nice cocktail to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, and the New Year Party of course! If you have been following me, you know how much I like chocolate! The best alcoholic drink that pairs well with chocolate has to be Baileys Irish Cream. I am showing you step by step instructions on how to make the pudding at home.Once you have this pudding ready you can layer it in the trifle with a homemade or a store-bought cake sponge and whipped cream.
Pipettes are showstoppers!
If you want to make a true boozy dessert, then filling the pipettes is the best way to enjoy the shots in the dessert. Each pipette fills approx 5 ml of alcohol. You add the pipettes on the top. The fun part is that the guests will have to squeeze in the shots to infuse the Baileys inside the dessert and enjoy!
Non-alcoholic version of this trifle recipe
Don’t drink alcohol, no problem. Though Baileys is delicious here, the chocolate pudding will taste amazing sans it. There are a couple of ways you can make this trifle to cater to adults and kids. Option 1- While making the pudding add 2 tablespoons of coffee and increase the milk by an extra ½ cup to adjust the consistency. Both ingredients should be blended and mixed before starting to cook. Swap baileys with cold coffee in the pipettes Option 2- While making the pudding disregard the Baileys that you add towards the end. You will have to reduce the cornstarch/corn flour by a tablespoon. So, in total just use 2 tablespoons of it to thicken. Swap baileys with a cold chocolate drink in the pipettes
