This bruschetta caprese is similar to our traditional bruschetta, but with a caprese twist. It makes for a refreshing appetizer, especially paired with other Italian dishes.
Just 5 Simple Ingredients!
Bruschetta has been one of our long-time favorite appetizer recipes (and one of the most popular on the site)! But today’s version has a little bit of flare. Like the original version, the bruschetta mixture is tomato based, but with the addition of fresh mozzarella and a balsamic glaze giving it more of a Caprese flavor. We also incorporated some avocado, which isn’t traditionally part of a Caprese recipe, but it adds SO much to the bite. You can make this Bruschetta Caprese look like a fancy appetizer, but really it’s made in minutes with just 5 ingredients mixed together and spooned over some crusty bread. No one would ever suspect its simplicity!
How to Make It
JUST MIX AND SERVE! Mix the avocado, tomato, and mozzarella together in a small bowl. Spoon the mixture onto the crostini, then drizzle with the balsamic glaze. Sprinkle the basil over the top. Serve immediately. Bread: In Italian Crostini means little toast. You can use all sorts of different types of bread for these. Our favorite type of bread to use is a French Baguette. It is a perfectly sized crusty bread. Some other breads include:

To toast your bread: You can simply cut your bread and top it with the caprese mixture or you can toast it first:
Making Ahead & Storing
Make Ahead of Time: Because of the avocado I don’t recommend making this more than 3-4 hours in advance otherwise the avocado will brown. If you want to prep the other ingredients the day before and keep them stored in separate containers you can. Then, when you’re ready to assemble everything go ahead and cut the avocado and mix it all up. Also, don’t top the crostini with the caprese mix until your ready to serve as the bread will get soggy after a while. Leftovers: Leftover Caprese mixture can be STORED in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. The avocado will brown, but it is still ok to eat. Leftover, untopped, toast can be stored in a Ziploc or wrapped in foil for a couple of days.
