We Love A quick treat!

During Christmas, most of our traditions and favorite memories involve some kind of food! Watching Christmas movies, caroling, and gathering for parties, all involve sharing some of our favorite snacks, desserts, or festive drinks! We love a good snack mix, and this is one of our favorites. Serve it up in cups for a perfect carry-and-play snack that EVERYONE will love! Why we love it:

Delicious. Christmas Chex mix is covered in sweet almond bark and filled with peanuts and M&MS for a perfectly salty + sweet combination. Party perfect. Christmas Chex mix is a perfect holiday snack for parties. Great for sharing. It makes a good-sized batch, so it’s great for sharing!

Simple Ingredients

Rice Chex cereal – Wheat Chex, Corn Chex cereal, or even KIX cereal pretzels – regular or mini pretzel twists plain Cheerios – or Honey Nut Cheerios peanuts – almonds, pecans, or walnuts Christmas M&Ms – plain or peanut butter M&M’s white almond bark

Variations

Sprinkles. Mix in Christmas sprinkles to make it even more festive. Marshmallows. Add mini marshmallows. M&Ms. Use other colored M&M’s according to the different holidays. Gluten-free. Rice Chex cereal is gluten-free, but you will need to make sure to use gluten-free pretzels and Cheerios for a fully gluten-free treat.

STORE the finished white chocolate trail mix in an airtight container, or a ziploc bag at room temperature or in the fridge. It should last for 1-2 weeks if stored in an airtight container. FREEZE for up to 3 months. Note that the ingredients may thaw softer than when it’s freshly made, but the treat is still delicious to eat.

When melting in the microwave, use a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the bark for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat until the chocolate is smooth.  Stovetop double boiler. Add water to a small pot. Place a slightly larger heat-proof bowl on the pot so the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl. Remove the bowl, bring the pot of water to boil, and reduce the heat to medium. Add chocolate to the bowl and place it on top of the pot. The steam from the water will heat the bowl, melting the chocolate. Stir until smooth. (Make sure that no water drips into the chocolate.)
