Scrambled eggs and bacon make the perfect sides for french toast. You could also have a smoothie (like our Strawberry Banana, Peach, or Kale smoothies).

Fluffy + Delish

French toast is one of my favorite sweet breakfast meals. I love how easy it is to make and it is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser. You can make a ton of it to feed a crowd, or enough for just two. Sometimes we’ll even get a loaf of cinnamon swirl bread, or apple crumble to change this up a bit and make extra fancy french toast. My family loves to have a little station with french toast toppings so we can customize our own plate just the way we want it!

French Toast batter

Our batter has just enough cinnamon, sugar and vanilla to make it sweet and delicious. I like to add more cinnamon than it calls for but feel free to add as much or as little as you want. BATTER. Whisk the milk, eggs and egg yolks together. Add cinnamon, vanilla extract and sugar. Whisk until smooth. Note: I like to use a fork to help flip the bread from side to side when soaking it in the egg mixture. Don’t worry if your bread breaks a little bit when flipping- you can use your clean fingers to grab the bread if that’s easier!

How to Make French Toast

PREP. Heat up a frying pan over medium heat. Butter the pan once it’s hot. COOK. After you have dipped the slice of bread into the egg batter (soaking each bread slice in the mixture until it is saturated – about 10-15 second per side), put it on the pan and cook each side until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side). SERVE french toast hot with your favorite toppings. Here are some of our favorites:

fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries), strawberry sauce powdered sugar whipped cream Buttermilk syrup, Cinnamon Buttermilk Syrup, maple syrup Nutella, peanut butter, cookie butter bacon bits butter lemon curd

There are so many different kinds of bread you can use for making french toast—regular sliced bread works great! If you want to kick it up a notch, try using thick slices of french bread. I love using slices of sourdough bread, Texas Toast, or even cinnamon bread – so yummy and a different taste! We’ve also done croissants and have even made pound cake french toast! How to make ahead of time? Just wrap a few slices in plastic wrap and FREEZE them in a freezer bag in the freezer. Eat within 1-2 months for best quality. How to reheat? Place frozen toast on a foil-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes. You can also use a toaster. This recipe is a family favorite! I just know you’re going to love it. If you try it, leave a comment below with how you like it and any tips for other readers.
