No party is complete with delicious appetizers like hot wings, meatballs and dips. This classic party food is great all year long and is a healthier option than frying.
baked appetizer classic
We love appetizers, and this next recipe is one we have been making for as long as I can remember. We’ve always enjoyed hot wings and have ended up making this baked version for so many parties and get togethers. We’ve made regular hot wings, boneless buffalo wings and many other buffalo-flavored recipes in the past, but these baked buffalo wings are a favorite because they’re simple and crispy (and if you want to be healthy, try our Buffalo Cauliflower). How to make hot wings crispy? Crispy hot wings are definitely the best!! The trick to making sure they are crispy without frying, is to coat them in a little bit of flour and baking powder. Doing this helps the wings become nice and crisp while baking.
How to make Hot Wings
As mentioned, these baked buffalo wings are simple and require just a few steps. WING PREP. Begin by rinsing the wings (cutting off any excess fat) and patting dry (you will definitely leave the skin on the wings because it is what helps them become crispy). Then, toss the wings in a plastic bag full of flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder and dash of pepper. When you dredge the chicken wings in flour, it helps them become crispy when baked. BAKE. Place wings in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet that is greased. Bake for about 30 minutes, making sure to turn them half way through (at 15 minutes). SAUCE. While chicken wings are baking, prepare sauce by mixing 12 oz. buffalo sauce, a few shakes of Worcestershire Sauce and 1/4 to 1/2 cup butter. You will melt the two together until combined and heated through. Once the wings are baked, you will toss the wings in the sauce and serve warm. How many wings in a batch? There are typically 4-6 wings per pound, and since this recipe calls for 4 pounds, you should be able to serve 4 people with the amount of wings made. This will vary though based on who is eating and what other food is being served.
RECIPE VARIATIONS & STORING
Baked Wings Variations: We love that this recipe is so easy to change up. We love our buffalo sauce, but we also recommend trying other sauces for more baked wing variations. Here are some of our other favorites:

For even more sauce variations, check out this post with 17 chicken wing sauces. How to store baked buffalo wings? We typically store any leftover wings (if there are any) in an air-tight container in the fridge. They usually keep for 2-3 days, and to heat up we typically use the microwave but to retain the crispy-ness, we recommend throwing them back in the oven for a few minutes until heated through,
Endless Possibilities
We’ve made several versions of this including BBQ and Teriyaki, but regular ol’ Hot Wings are always my favorite. They’re especially delicious served with homemade Ranch Dressing. If you love them too and want to make them for an event or party, I’d highly recommend this recipe. It is super easy!!
