Quick & Easy Delight: This dressing can be made in minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights or spontaneous gatherings. Pantry Staples: This recipe calls for everyday ingredients that are likely already in your pantry or fridge. There is no need for a special trip to the grocery store! Velvety & Flavorful: The combination of mayo and sour cream creates a luxuriously creamy texture, while adding vinegar, spices, and a hint of sugar balances tangy, savory, and sweet flavors.

Mayo: Provides the creamy base for the dressing. Substitution: You can use regular or vegan mayo. Sour Cream: Adds richness and a slight tang. Substitution: Plain yogurt is a good alternative. Also, Greek yogurt can be used as a tangier and lighter option. Vinegar: Adds acidity and balances the creaminess. Options: Apple cider vinegar or white vinegar can be used interchangeably. Substitution: Lemon juice. Salt & Black Pepper: Essential for seasoning and enhancing all the other flavors. Ground Mustard: Adds a mild, tangy heat. Substitution: Yellow mustard or Dijon mustard can be used if you don’t have ground mustard. Garlic Powder: Infuses the dressing with a subtle garlicky flavor. Substitution: Freshly minced garlic can be used, but reduce the amount as fresh garlic is stronger. Sugar: Balances the tanginess and adds a layer of sweetness. Note: This is optional, but recommended for a well-rounded flavor. Celery seeds: This ingredient is optional. Adds a slightly earthy and aromatic flavor, enhancing the overall taste of the dressing. Note: A little goes a long way, so use sparingly to avoid overpowering the dressing.

Many brands are available in stores. Check out my favorite dairy-free substitutes here. Egg-Free: Opt for vegan mayo, which is egg-free. Hellmann’s Vegan Dressing and Spread Vegan is my favorite.

Variations & Additions

Herbs: Add chopped fresh herbs like dill or parsley for a fresh burst of flavor. Spice: A pinch of cayenne pepper can add a nice kick. Sweetness: For a different sweet note, try adding a touch of honey or maple syrup instead of sugar.

Storing and Freezing Instructions

Storing: Keep the dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week. Freezing: It’s best not to freeze this dressing as the texture may change upon thawing.
