5 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, washed, peeled, and cut into cubes – or use Russet potatoes 6 cloves garlic, minced – How to Mince Garlic, or use 3 teaspoons minced garlic 4 ounces cream cheese ½ cup salted butter, softened – How to Soften Butter Quickly ½ -⅔ cups heavy whipping cream – half and half or whole milk 1½ teaspoons garlic salt with parsley flakes black pepper to taste – optional fresh herbs such as chives or parsley
