Watch the video of making ghee rice (without onions)  Ghee rice-How to prepare Ghee rice Serves: 2 Ingredients needed Basmati rice or jeeraka samba rice – 1 cup Onion – 1 thinly sliced Salt needed For the seasoning Ghee/Clarified butter – 2 tbsp Cinnamon – 1 inch piece Cardamon – 2 Cloves -2-3 Bay leaf -1 Star anise -1 (optional) Fennel seeds – 1 tsp Cumin seeds – 1 tsp Cashew nuts – 10 For Garnishing Raisins -15 (optional) Preparation Method 1.Heat ghee in a pan, add all the spices,(cinnamon, cardamom,cloves,bay leaf and star anise, fennel seeds, cumin seeds) then add onions and fry till they turn golden brown. 2.Now add the drained rice and fry for a few minutes, so that the rice is well coated with the ghee. 3.Add 2 cups of boiling water, needed salt and cook until rice is done. 4.When rice is done fluff it with a fork and serve hot with any spicy gravy or vegetable korma.
