Rinse the beans well and drain the water. Now look at the seeds below. They are swollen and plump.Some have even sprouted lightly.

3.Drain the water completely.

Wet a cheese cloth or muslin cloth or a thin cotton cloth, squeeze out excess water, transfer the moong beans in it and hang it loosely to drain remaining water if any.(as shown in the picture below)

If you want longer sprouts- Rinse and drain the beans through the cloth and keep it for another 5-6 hours.Again ensure that the cloth is damp and also there should be no stagnant water in the vessel otherwise the beans will rot. If you are not going to use it immediately, it can be kept in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Method II Follow Step 1 and 2 as mentioned above. After draining the water from the Moong dhal completely, put them in a Casserole or hot pack, close it and leave it overnight undisturbed. The following morning the seeds would have sprouted.
