Summers mean more cool cravings . Thant means more drinks, ice creams , slushes, cold soups and cold salads. I feel like slurping all the ice cubes sitting in the freezer. Yeah ..This is our first summer in Seattle and its really really hot out here .One of the reasons we feel this heat is – lack of an air conditioner .. can you imagine? Its funny about the west coast that there aren’t any a.c’s out here (if you are staying in a rental apartment) probably just because we have few weeks of heat wave and then it is all good. Keeping one self hydrated is very important during these days. And i have to admit plain water isn’t very tempting always. I make some or the other drink everyday to cool off.. and our all time favorite being lemonade. Adding fresh fruits to the lemonade is like a cherry on the top. Using fresh fruits in any form just adds so much body and taste to any drink . And fresh herbs like basil, rosemary or mint just completes it making it so much more flavorful and have so many added benefits . One more advantage of adding sweet fruits to your lemonade is you eliminate or reduce the addition of sugar to a great extent. This lemonade was a nice change from plain water or lemonade. You can make lemonade using any fruits or herbs. Summers are all about enjoying juicy fruits and peaches are our favorite pick. They are absolutely sweet and yum. I had few peaches and basil on hand so made basil peach lemonade
Feel free to experiment with different combinations and herbs. If you don’t have basil ,use fresh mint or rosemary.Trust me you will never have plain lemonade again . You can whip up this fruity drink in seconds . Perfect for parties and picnics too . Add sparkling water or soada to it and you have a lovely mocktail . Muddle some fresh berries and more mint/ basil into it and you have a lovely virgin mojito. Isn’t this cool.
