2 cups granulated sugar 1½ cups butter, melted – unsalted butter 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 3 large eggs – room temperature eggs incorporate better than cold eggs 1¼ cups all-purpose flour – How to Measure Flour ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder – use natural unsweetened cocoa powder or unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder ½ teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips – or milk chocolate chips flaky sea salt, if desired
