EAsy holiday fudge

Chocolate and peppermint are a mouth-watering combination. We are big fans of that flavor pairing at our house! And Oreo with mint? SO good. Fudge is a the perfect vehicle for mixing together all kinds of flavors. It’s easy to make, comes together quickly, and has the perfect base for adding interesting pairings. We did a mash up of those two favs and came up with Peppermint Oreo Fudge! It was an instant hit. It has chunks of Oreos and Peppermint pieces, and I think you will love it. It’s a great holiday treat and would even make a great gift. You can put it in a box and gift it to your friends and neighbors. They’ll love it because it’s delicious!!

how to make peppermint oreo fudge

PREP. Begin by putting parchment paper in a 9×9 pan. This keeps the fudge from sticking to the pan. Put the white chocolate chips and marshmallow fluff in a big bowl. Set aside. HEAT. In a pan melt the sugar, heavy cream, salt and butter on medium heat until it starts to boil. Cook for 5 minutes. COMBINE. Pour the hot stuff into the bowl of chocolate chips and mix with the mixer until it’s smooth and soft. FOLD. Mix (fold) in half of the peppermint Crunch Bits and all the crushed Oreos. Pour into your pan. REFRIGERATE. Sprinkle the rest of the peppermint crunch bits on the top. Press down a bit. Put in the fridge for 3-5 hours to let it set. Hope you like it!

Tips + SToring Info

Help it set quicker: If you can’t wait the 3-5 hours to have it set in the fridge you can try to let it set up in the freezer. This can cut down on the wait time, but be aware that this might dry out your fudge if you choose not to cover your fudge during this process. Oreo Crust: I’ve seen that people make an Oreo crust as a base for the fudge. You can also cut the fudge about the size of and Oreo and serve it on top of peppermint Oreo cookie.  Best way to cut fudge: The most important thing to have in order to get a nice clean cut is a completely cooled slab of fudge! Once the fudge is cool the best way to cut the fudge evenly is to first remove the entire block from the pan. Enter the handy parchment paper.  Pull the fudge out of the pan and place it on a cutting board. Get the knife wet with hot water and dry it off. Make one long slice pushing down. But don’t drag or saw the knife. STORE fudge in an airtight container in the fridge with pieces of parchment paper separating the layers of fudge. This should last for 2-3 weeks. To FREEZE, wrap the fudge in a layer of parchment paper or with plastic wrap and then a layer of foil. Place this in a freezer safe bag and keep for up to 6 months. Whether you want to make the fridge ahead of time or store leftovers you can use this method for both.
