Pineapple Jalapeño Salsa

Is there anything better than a bowl of fresh salsa? Fresh salsa never lasts more than a day at our house. It’s too good not to eat all at once. We love all kinds of salsa – Classic Salsa, Salsa Verde, Black Bean and Corn Salsa – You name it! We love trying new salsa recipes, and this Pineapple Jalapeño Salsa was definitely a hit! This Pineapple Salsa was a little spicy and a little sweet. The flavor combinations are unreal. I love the super sweet pineapple with the juicy tomatoes and the spiciness of the jalapeños. It’s all so yummy when it’s mixed together. If you’ve never tried sweet salsa before, this recipe is for you!

How to Make Pineapple Salsa

COMBINE. Add pineapple, tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, and jalapenos to a large bowl.  SEASON. Add lime juice and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. SERVE! Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes for all flavors to blend. Or chill until serving time. Serve with tortilla chips. Variations. To mix it up a little try adding any of these ingredients:

mango avocado green or red bell pepper cumin fresh garlic

Ingredient Tips

Pineapple. Use canned pineapple or freshly diced pineapple. Since raw ripe pineapple has a high pH balance, the acid can cause your mouth to “burn”. Neutralize the acidity by sprinkling the pineapple with a teaspoon of salt. It will reduce the pH balance without altering the flavor.    Jalapeno pepper will provide the spice to the salsa. For mild heat, remove the white membrane and seeds from the inside of the jalapeños. Increase the heat by adding as little or as much of the membrane and seeds as desired. Fresh lime juice. If desired, use freshly squeezed juice. A medium lime will produce 2 tablespoons of juice.

What to serve with Pineapple Salsa

Pineapple Salsa can be served with lots of different dishes. On the side of pork, fish, steak, chicken, or with Tacos, Fajitas, or Burrito Bowl. And of course, it’s great with Tortilla Chips or even with some warm Tortillas. My kids go crazy over chips and salsa. It’s the best after-school snack for chatting about their day at school. I also love to whip up some salsa for a girl’s night or a get-together with neighbors. Just make sure to grab lots of your favorite chips because this pineapple salsa is deliciously addicting!

Storing Info

STORE Pineapple Tomato Salsa in an airtight container (I love using mason jars for salsa). It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I don’t recommend freezing the salsa as it will make the pieces mushy.
