What makes a bread recipe “quick”?
No proofing. Yeast bread recipes need time to proof and rise which can take hours. When bread is made with baking powder or baking soda instead of yeast it doesn’t need time to proof and rise and can be ready in less than an hour! Simple ingredients. Non-yeast bread options are also great for emergencies when yeast is scarce. These types of quick bread usually call for flour (or cake flour), baking powder, milk, and salt. Many quick breads also call for cake mixes which are a combo of the ingredients listed above.
