Easy oven Roasted Chickpeas
Chickpea, also known as garbanzo beans, are so versatile. They’re great in their simple original form for adding to soups, curry, salads… but they’re so good pureed into hummus or baked to create a crispy savory snack or salad topping. Did you know making Roasted Chickpeas is so incredibly easy?! We are going to show you today just how simple they are. Make a batch of them so you have a healthy snack on hand for when hunger strikes.
How to Make Roasted Chickpeas
DRAIN & RINSE. Drain and then rinse the canned chickpeas. You can stop rinsing the peas when there are no longer bubbles. Pour the rinsed beans onto a towel and dry them off as well as possible and then spread onto a rimmed baking sheet. BAKE. Bake the beans for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F. Be sure to give the pan a shake halfway through cooking. This will make sure they get cooked more evenly. SEASON THE BEANS. Carefully pour the beans into a heat safe bowl and then drizzle on the oil. Use a spoon to toss the beans and coat them in the oil. Sprinkle on all the spices and toss again. BAKE AGAIN. Pour the beans back onto the pan and roast for 10-15 more minutes until crispy. Again, shake the pan halfway through.
Achieve the Perfect Texture
To make roasted chickpeas crispy use the method used in this recipe. Before adding any oil or seasoning, the chickpeas are roasted for 20 minutes. This helps to dry the chickpeas. If the oil is added before they are completely dry, all the water won’t be able to escape to create a crunchy roasted chickpea. After the 20 minutes, then the oil and seasonings are added and the chickpeas are roasted for an additional 10-15 minutes until nice and crispy.
